General Information

FIRST YEAR ADMISSION : YEAR 2013-14

 

Availability of Seats

 

1.       For the BE courses commencing July 2013, 300 seats are available at AIT (120 seats in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering,  60 seats each in Mechanical Engineering,  Computer Engineering and Information Technology), for wards of Army personnel through JEE (Main) All India Rank.

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

2.       The eligibility criteria for admission to AIT is published in detail in the Prospectus being made available in February every year.  Brief outline is given below :-

 

            (a)        The applicants must fall into one of the following categories:-    

(i)         Children of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous service in the Army.

(ii)         Children of  ex  Army  personnel   granted/ awarded   regular   pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/ invalided medical board.  This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.

(iii)        Children of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge or released after ten years of service.

            (b)        Adopted /Step children and Children of Remarried Widows .

(i)         Adopted Child of Army personnel if adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission.

(ii)         Step Children are eligible provided they are born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army who is other wise eligible.

            (c)        Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases.

(i)         Eligibility Criteria for Wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers/Army Dental Corps Officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force(IN/IAF).  Wards of only those ex Army medical officers/Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for atleast 10 years.

 (ii)        Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS/ MNS/TA Personnel.

(aa)       Children of APS personnel classified  as  ex- servicemen as per Govt of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D(Res) dated    19 Jul 89.

(ab)      Children of those APS  personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.

(ac)       Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS who have competed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Army.

(ad)      Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.            

(ae)       Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.

  (d)      The candidate must fulfill the age criteria requirements as per JEE Main 2013.

 

  (e)      Must be an Indian citizen, or a PIO who obtains Indian citizenship before admission.

3.       AIT admission is based on the Rank obtained in the  Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2013.  All applicants are therefore required to appear in JEE Main 2013 and also apply to AIT for Admission.

 4.        Candidates can apply for JEE Main 2013  ‘Online’. For Application form and the Information Bulletin candidates are advised to visit  JEE(Main) website www.jeemain@nic.in. AIT does not deal with distribution of JEE Main forms and queries if any. Details may be obtained from following address: -

5.         JEE Main 2013 will be conducted on the following dates:-

(a)   Off - line     -           07.04.2013

(b)   On – line between 08.04.2013 and 25.04.2013.  Further details may be obtained from their website www.jeemain@nic.in.

 

Note :- AIT does issue JEE Main 2013 Application Form and is not involved in any process of conduct of the said exam.

6.       JEE (Main) Application Form should be filled before filling AIT Application Form.  The JEE (Main) Roll No must be endorsed on the AIT Application Form before submitting it to AIT.  Failure to do so would result in rendering the AIT Application Form null and void.

 

Cost of AIT Application

 

7.       Cost of Prospectus and Application form is as follows:-

 

(a)           Online. Online application form is available on our website www.aitpune.com. Application fee of Rs 750/- can be paid through credit/debit card or netbanking.  In addition candidate will  need to pay a processing charge of Rs 37/-.   

                               

         (b)     By hand.   A limited quantity of prospectus (hard copies) with application form will be available at AIT, Pune, HQ Commands and Headquarters AWES on payment of Rs 750/-  through bank DD of a nationalised bank drawn in favour of  Director, AIT and payable at Pune. No payment through cheque (including at-par cheques) will be        accepted.

(c)        By Post.  Prospectus with application form can also be obtained by post from AIT on payment of Rs 820/- through bank DD drawn in favour of Director, AIT payable at Pune.

Note:-  (i)    Candidates are advised to use online facility for applying as far as possible.   

(i)      Cost of prospectus will not be refunded, if returned.

 

8.         Last date for submission of completed Application Form is 30 Apr 2013. After that AIT forms will be accepted alongwith a late fee of  Rs 500/-   till 5 May 2013.

                 

9.         Admission at AIT, Pune, will tentatively take place three weeks after the date of declaration of JEE (Main) All India Rank.  Admission schedule and Joining Instructions will be hosted on the AIT website www.aitpune.com.

 

 In short

 

10.      Filling up of JEE (Main) form and AIT Form is mandatory. Failing to fill up any one of the forms will lead to rejection of admission to AIT.
