Lt Gen (Retd) Mahesh Vij, PVSM,AVSM
               Director,AIT


1. Lt Gen (Retd) Mahesh Vij, PVSM, AVSM is an alumnus of National defence Academy 1964. He has done the prestigious NDC course, Higher Command course at Mhow and NBC Warfare course at USSR. He has obtained Ph D (Management) from DAV University, Indore. He has commanded 4 Corps and held the coveted appointments of Director General Military Training; Chairman Joint Training Committee for the Army, Navy and Airforce, President of the Services Sports Control Board. He has been an instructor, at the Nigerian defence Academy; School of Armoured Warfare; defence Services Staff College and the College of Combat. He has traveled widely and has been to various countries to include Nigeria, Egypt, Greece, Africa, UK, USA, Australia, USSR, Europe, Thailand, Italy, Malaysia and also some of the neighbouring countries.

2. He has been awarded the Highest award for distinguished Service the Param Vishisht Seva Medal(PVSM) and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) for exemplary and dedicated service.

 

3. He has a service of 40 years with the Indian Army and retired from the prestigious appointment of Military Secretary - Indian Army.

Message

1. The year 2006 has been a busy and rewarding one for AIT. By Gods Grace AITians have done well in all facets of Institutional Activity.

2. Our Academic Results have been encouraging, we have our fair share of University Toppers and our overall results are among the best in the University. Our placement figures are the Best for the second consecutive year, it is indeed heartening to see large number of our students being picked by the Microsoft, Infosys, TCS, HSBC and other top end Corporate Houses. For the current year the placements are already at an all time high of 97%.

3. Our students continue to excel in co-corricular and extra curricular activities also, winning National Level Technical Contests like the 'Code 4 bill' and 'Security Contest' by Microsoft and walking away with the most of the Prizes in Cultural Contests such as Express Youth Forum's Verve 2007 and SICSR ;  'Unify 07'. Our young faculty members have also done us proud by standing First in University of Pune, Post Graduate Exams as also by being invited for Paper Presentations at International Seminars abroad. After having obtained the ISO 9001 Certification and NAAC, we have now obtained Accreditation by the NBA this year.

4. Infrastructure upgradation is one of our important Focus Areas and work on the Technical upgradation of all our labs is nearly complete; work in our new IT Lab is underway. Another Area where a lot of effort has been put is the Library, which is now well stocked and over 227 Journals are available 'On Line'. Broad Band connectivity is now available in all Depts and in each room in the Hostels. It must be emphasized that AIT provides educational and recreational facilities that are comparable to the best in the country.

5. Our efforts have not been in vain. The all round improvement is reflected by the AIT now moving up in the National Ranking of Engg Institutes by Dataquest, to be in the TOP FIFTY.

6. In the coming year we hope to further improve our Academic performance, Placements as also our overall National Ranking.   'Onward to Glory'.
