General Information

Availability of Seats

  • AIT offers 300 seats for Engineering Course commencing in July 2017(120 seats in Computer Engineering, 60 seats each in Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering). Only wards of serving/retired Army personnel are eligible to apply for admission to AIT.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Children of serving/retired Army personnel are eligible. The parent should have completed minimum 10 years of service in the Army. Detailed eligibility criteria will be published in the Prospectus being made available in February 2017.
  • The candidate must fulfill the age criteria requirements as per JEE Main 2017
  • Qualification – Class XII or equivalent (appeared or passed) with compulsory subjects as Physics and Mathematics alongwith one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subject. Candidate should obtain at least 50% in each of the subjects.
  • Should appear for JEE (Main) 2017 examination and have acquired appropriate/required ranking as per All India Ranking List published by CBSE for admission to Engineering Colleges. (Last year’s last admitted student’s All India Ranking was 1,39,241).
  • Must be an Indian citizen, or a PIO who obtains Indian citizenship before admission.

Entrance Examination

  • AIT admission is based on the All India Ranking obtained in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE (Main) 2017). All applicants are therefore required to appear in JEE Main 2017 and also apply to AIT for Admission. Failing to fill up any one of the forms will lead to rejection of admission to AIT.

JEE (Main) Application Form

  • Candidates should apply for JEE Main 2017 ‘Online’ in the month of December 2016. Application form and the Information Bulletin are available on JEE(Main) website AIT does not deal with distribution of JEE Main forms and queries if any.
  • JEE Main 2017 will be conducted in the month of April 2017.

AIT Application Form

  • The applicants should then fill AIT online application on website wef 15 Mar 2017 after receipt of JEE (Main) Roll Number (Exam seat Number). Cost of Online application is Rs 925/-, inclusive of processing charges.
  • Last date for submission of completed Application Form is 25 Apr 2017.
  • Admission at AIT, Pune, will tentatively take place within two weeks after the date of declaration of CBSE All India Rank. Admission schedule and Joining Instructions will be hosted on the AIT website

First Year Admission for the Session 2017-18

Entrance Examination

  • Candidate seeking admission to AIT is required to take JEE Main 2017 (Joint Entrance Examination – 2017) conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).
  • Application Form and JEE Main 2017 Information Bulletin are made available on the .
  • Candidates should refer to JEE Main 2017 Information Bulletin for syllabus of the examination, last date of receipt of application form by JEE Main 2017 and any other related information.
  • Filling up of both JEE Main 2017 Form and AIT Application Form is mandatory. Candidates failing to fill any one of these forms in time will be ineligible for admission to AIT.
  • Candidates who are eligible for admission to AIT can fill AIT online application in the month of March/April after receipt of JEE Roll Number from CBSE.
  • Candidates must state JEE Main Roll Number at appropriate place in the AIT Application Form. Absence of this important input may result in rejection of the AIT Application Form.
  • Admission to AIT is on the basis of All India Rank obtained in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main - 2017. Weightage for gallantry award if applicable will be given as specified in the AIT prospectus which can be downloaded from AIT website


Prospectus 2017

Migration to Second Year

  • Rule: Migration allowed from one university to another University upto third year within Maharashtra state only.
  • For migration to AIT, the candidate must be a ward of serviceman or ex-serviceman from army only and must fulfill basic eligibility criteria spelt out in the college website.
  • Candidate desirous to migrate must have completed first /second year engineering from any engineering college within Maharashtra State only.
  • He should have cleared all the subjects and no ATKT/Backlog is allowed for migration.
  • Eligible candidates should apply on plain paper along with mark sheets (Xerox) of pervious year (FE / SE as applicable) (both semesters).
  • Based on the vacancies existing in branches, the applicant will get admission as per the Merit list based on the candidates qualifying exam.
  • Vacancies will be filled up strictly on merit of the result of the pervious year.
  • The decision of AIT management will be final.
