HOD's Desk

It is with great pride, we have launched our new program, "Automation and Robotics" at the Army Institute of Technology. This cutting-edge program is designed to equip our students with the knowledge and skills required to excel in the rapidly evolving fields of automation and robotics.

In line with our commitment to providing students with a holistic education, this program has focus on experiential learning, innovation, and industry collaboration. Our state-of-the-art facilities and esteemed faculty members are eager to provide a conducive environment to explore and learn with vigor.

We are poised to produce leaders in the automation and robotics industry, driving innovation and development. This program is a positive step towards achieving our goal of nurturing talented engineers who make a meaningful impact on human life.

Program Outcomes (POs):

  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of their limitations.
  • The Engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice.
  • Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate knowledge of, and the need for, sustainable development.
  • Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities, and norms of engineering practice.
  • Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams and multidisciplinary settings.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, including writing effective reports and design documentation, making effective presentations, and giving and receiving clear instructions.
  • Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles and apply these to one's own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Lifelong learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and lifelong learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs):

  1. Ability to identify, formulate, and solve real-world engineering problems in the core streams of Automation and Robotics, namely Design Engineering, Thermal-Fluids Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.
  2. Ability to design, develop, and test cost-effective and efficient systems for engineering applications from concept to manufacture.
  3. Utilize industry-oriented software tools using virtual and robust engineering methods to design, optimize, and develop products.
  4. Provide a platform to generate interest in futuristic areas such as Electric Vehicles, Systems Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Energy Management, Additive Manufacturing, and Automation.
